1 PM - Weaving Pine Needle Baskets with Mariamor Pazos
Sunday June 22, 1 PM
Discover the ancient craft of basket weaving in this hands-on workshop, where you'll learn to create beautiful and functional pine needle baskets using natural materials. Guided by an experienced instructor, you'll explore traditional coiling techniques, how to select and prepare pine needles, and methods for shaping and stitching your basket with natural or decorative thread.
Pine needle basketry is a meditative and rewarding art that connects us to nature and the rich traditions of handcrafting. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience with fiber arts, this class offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down, work with your hands, and create something truly special.
All materials will be provided, and you'll leave with a completed (or nearly completed) basket, as well as the skills to continue crafting on your own
Mariamor Pazos is a Postpartum Doula, folk herbalist and student of the plants. She has studied deeply within the Yucatec Maya lineage and offers healing sessions, womb massage and Closing of the Bones Ceremonies. Mariamor is delighted to teach the pine needle basket class as a shamanic practice of connecting with prayer and plants.
Cancellations within 2 weeks of workshop are NOT REFUNDABLE, but may be transferable.
